
Tom Davidson is the founder of Automated Data Pipelines (ADP).
Tom graduated from Macquarie Uni in 2019. His studies included:
He finished in the Top 1% for the majority of his units; placing on the University merit list & winning several awards for academic achievement.
Following University, Tom worked at a small Corporate Advisory in Sydney, predominantly covering ASX listed precious metals companies. He was then & still-is a huge Gold-Bug.
Tom had a small stint as a farmer, where he battled two consecutive years of floods (Video below)
After realising his income couldn't be dependent on the weather and choosing instead to pursue farming as a hobby. Tom decided to play to his strengths.
In July-2023 Tom began offering his skillset to SMB's around Perth. Consulting as a freelance Data-Analyst & Automation specialist. The title of 'Specialist', was of course self-proclaimed.
Through discovery, trial & error, project deliveries, feedback from clients & many, many long-nights, the service offering evolved.

In July-2025, Tom incorporated ADP & began trading under the corporate entity. By that time, he'd seen enough to understand the opportunity that lay ahead.
We offer something that all businesses increasingly have a need for, but most SMB's simply lack the staff or the dedicated know-how to do it.
Larger businesses that do have dedicated Data-Analysts, are often lacking capacity and not practicing the simple approach that our clients appreciate.

Specifically, two overarching themes presented everywhere, almost without exception:
Our clients range from under $5m annual revenue to north of $100m. So far, the approach applies regardless of industry or size of business. And from discussions with larger, but not-engaged businesses, the exact same issues exist, just on a much bigger scale.
Point being; No matter how fancy/expensive/complicated your new ERP system is.. your data always ends up in Excel, being manually processed by your team and then visually inspected by you. We don't fight that trend, we embrace it.
We don't do Macros, and rarely do we use Excel formulas. Most of the value we deliver, leverages Excels 'PowerQuery' module and a little-known query language called "M".
It's definitely niche, PowerQuery and the M language. They're used in only two programs, Excel & PowerBI.
Relative obscurity & technical complexity aside.. It's the ability to build data-pipelines off of system-exports, that our clients pay us for.
From the first meeting, we aim to come away with a trial project, fleshed out and ready to scope.
Ideally something big, but usually something we believe solvable in a week.
Maybe there's an important dataset that you'd like to view more clearly, like that weekly WIP report you always seem to be waiting around for from Finance.
Or perhaps it's a sales dashboard, because for all the bells & whistles, your CRM's "analytics module" just aint it.. You just want to see your sales teams performance, relative to their targets and/or each-other. Maybe with a customer-grouping or job-type categorisation too.
